“We are going . . . Heaven knows where we are going . . . . . . but we know we will get there.”
Dear Dancing Friends (& also anyone who finds it hard to dance right now),
I’m writing this during the time we would normally be gathering to “Dance our Prayers” . . . which we have done for over 17 years now on Sunday mornings . . . although in the last 7 months, we’ve been called to “dance” in new and different ways.
Well, I came across this song this morning which was sent to me just after the fires (Thank you Sayeeda!) And I felt inspired to share it with you.
There’s something hopeful about it . . . and it feels like a gentle invitation to allow our bodies to express whatever’s going on right now . . . and also receive some nourishment.
So I invite you, if it feels right, to listen to it, and allow your body to move in whatever way would feel most nourishing in this moment . . . in fact, you may even want to lie down and rest while listening to this song . . . allowing any movement – even if it’s a micro-movement – to happen all on its’ own.
And taking this time to give your mind a rest . . . and drop into your somatic or “in-bodied” experience; which is just another way of saying to pay attention to your body . . . your physical sensations . . . your emotions . . . . and any tension that may be present . . . and allow whatever movement may want to arise.
This song is less than 5 minutes, so before you save this email for later; I invite you to see if you can give yourself 5 minutes . . . right now.
And think of this practice as a “dancing” prayer or meditation . . . and a way for you to connect with God, Goddess, the Universe, Love, or whatever feels appropriate. And feel free to sing if & when it feels appropriate. You may even want to do this several times. And since I know we’re all connected beyond time and space, feel free to connect with me and the other souls on this “Planetary Dance Floor.”
Peace and love, Diane
PS I feel like this is the beginning of a larger playlist that’s been coming in; as I’ve been connecting to so many songs that I would love to share with you, so we can “dance our prayers” together . . . in whatever way is safe and in alignment with what’s happening. Until then, would you care to join me on the Cosmic Dance Floor for this one song?
(These pictures were taken 11 days after the fire.)
Taken at Bear Creek Mobile Home Park; of one of the 3 Stone Buddha statues that are still standing at what used to be Will Bagley, Andrea Good & James Bagley’s home. Please keep them, along with all those deeply affected by the fires in your prayers!
Where the fire started at the Ashland BMX park, where a green shoot was just starting to emerge.
On Bear Creek Greenway in Ashland, where I saw a Heron (that I’ve seen many, many times before in that same spot by the water) had survived!
One interpretation of “Heron medicine” is the power of knowing the self by discovering its’ gifts and facing it’s challenges. It’s the ability to accept all feelings and opinions without denying any emotion or thought. Heron flies over those who are unaware of who they are or where they belong in the world; and asks that they follow their intuition.
Till next time . . .
